Rainbow People

On July first though the seventh, people from all races, nations, political affiliations, and religious backgrounds will gather in the State of Washington.  This gathering is for the purpose of expressing a desire for peace, justice, and healing for all people – worldwide.  These people call themselves the Rainbow people.   As stated before, they are a mixture of all races, nations, political affiliation, and religious backgrounds. They also come from very different social and cultural backgrounds; some are rich, some are poor, some live off the street, and some live in mansions.  Despite these differences, all come together and unite as one for the annual gathering of the Rainbow people.
A member of the Rainbow family, who actually played a major part in the start of this movement, was on hand to present the movie to us.   He talked a bit about the history of the Rainbow people, and how it got its start in San Francisco.  My first impressions of this man, was that he was a major hippie, and that he was on LSD or something.  Upon further inspection, I realized that I was judging this man based on my own assumptions and images of a hippie.  This man may have been a hippie, but he cared for everyone.  The assumption and images I had created in my mind were completely wrong and indifferent.   The movie told me a different story, and showed me a people that were not just dope smokers.   These people were people just like me, who just care for our world and the injustices that are happening in it.  They believe in non-violence and egalitarianism.  Their motives are just and pure; they just wish to have the freedom to assemble in peace.
The Rainbow people are not out for world domination, but are here to promote peace and stability in our society and world.  They desire nothing less that to be treated as equals and to have the basic rights of the American people.  They believe that all humans should have these same rights, and that we should not be subject to injustice and corruption through our governments’ hands.  This presentation and movie, made its point.  Don’t judge a book by its cover, the book may just jump out and surprise you.  These so called hippies are nothing more than regular human beings who may choose to live life a little bit differently.  Is it our right as fellow human being to judge those people?  No!  The world had better watch out.   You never know, one of your neighbors may just be a so called hippie.
