Gleek you say?!?!

I am definitely a Gleek.  If you have ever watched the show “Glee”, you may know what I mean.  “Glee” airs every Tuesday night on Fox at 9/8c.  The show is about a group of kids involved in a glee club in their high school, it focuses on all the hard times that the students go through.  The show really highlights the ins and outs of high school and college in some cases; issues ranging from spirituality/religion all the way across the board to sexuality/appeal. The students in this glee club really express themselves and what they are going through by singing out about their feelings and thoughts in an attempt to overcome them.
Glee is a very entertaining show, in which there is amazing singing, acting, dancing, and drama coming from an outstanding cast.  The show continually takes on new twists and turns that shock and sometimes really disturb the audience.  It creates a great sense of longing from show to show.  In my opinion people who are Gleeks tend to get really excited about a new episode.  I personally love the fact that the show involves the moral lessons and includes a variation from the norm.  The show isn’t like any regular program; it plays with many aspects involving life, family, and relationships that many of us are uncomfortable talking about openly.  Glee really conveys those aspects in a mood that is both insightful and lively.  I must say that in my experience, people who are not musically inclined tend to hate this show.  People who are musically inclined on the other hand, tend to take a fancy to it and really get a lot out of it.
The creators of Glee really take the challenges we face in our lives and apply them to the show in real life situations.  Most all the audience members can identify with these situations at some point in their life.  The show demonstrates situations that are very relevant and prominent in our society, and may even be a problem to our youth.  The show is a bit like reading a classical novel.   In a classic novel, a person interprets the moral value that the book is trying to portray, by using their own personal history and experiences to shape their understanding.  Glee does the exact same thing; it really leaves the audience to interpret what the moral is behind each episode, and how it can be applied to everyone’s life.  In this way, it creates a good learning zone for teens and adolescent adults, in which we can encounter situations without really encountering them in real life.   In the world we live in today, being equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle and cope with the many situations before we are actually faced with them is a great thing.  This can really have a major impact on a person’s self-esteem and psychological/societal behaviors.  I for one appreciate the many lessons I learn from Glee.
If you are interested in maybe checking out Glee, you can watch it on Tuesday nights on Fox channel, which is channel 2 in our local broadcast area.  It’s on at 7:00pm our time.
